Lisa has been an educator for 28 years, beginning as a 2nd grade teacher in Carlsbad in 1997. In 2004, she transferred to MVUSD and taught 4th grade for seven years at E. Hale Curran and Buchanan Elementary. She made the move to middle school in 2011 and taught 7th grade Math until 2024 when she left the classroom to take on the job of MEA President. Her roles in MEA have included Site Rep, Calendar Committee member, LCAP Committee member, Member Engagement Chair, AdHoc Team member, Bargaining Chair, Secretary and Vice President. Through this work, she has discovered that her true passion is advocating for Murrieta Educators!

Julie Pulatie

Julie Pulatie is a math teacher at Warm Springs Middle School with 21 years of experience in both elementary and middle school education. She holds a Master’s in Education and a Master’s in Administration.

Julie is an active MEA leader, having served as Site Representative, Treasurer, Middle School Director, Elections Chair, Vice President, and Bargaining Chair. She is committed to supporting members, strengthening connections, and creating a positive environment for both colleagues and students.

Heather Goka

Heather Goka has over 15 years of experience in public education, teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels. As Secretary of the Executive Board and a member of the MEA Bargaining Team, she is dedicated to advocating for sustainable workloads, improved working conditions, and equitable support for all education professionals.

Heather is passionate about ensuring that education remains a viable and fulfilling long-term career. She strives to make sure union priorities reflect the real challenges and evolving needs of its members.

Lisa Van Ryzin

Lisa is the Lead School Nurse, focused on keeping students healthy, safe, and ready to learn. She has served six years as Treasurer for the Murrieta Educators Association, helping manage finances and ensure responsible use of member resources.
She is also serving on the Negotiations Team and Insurance Committee, working to support both staff and students.

Brittany Sattari

Brittany Sattari has been a K-2 teacher at Rail Ranch Elementary in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District for over 8 years. She has previously served as the MEA Secretary and currently serves as one of the Elementary Directors. Brittany is a proud MVUSD alumni and currently has a daughter who attends the district as well. Brittany has a passion for leadership and continues to work collaboratively with the district with a solution oriented approach.​

Adriana is the Elementary Director for the Murrieta Educators Association (MEA) and a dedicated educator with 13 years of experience in elementary education. A recognized leading digital educator and CTA Cadre presenter, she is passionate about empowering teachers through meaningful professional learning and strong advocacy. Adriana is deeply committed to giving educators back their time and access to essential resources so they can better serve their students while maintaining balance and well-being in their personal lives. She continues to champion educator voices, collaboration, and the support needed for every classroom to thrive.

Heidi Schumaker

Heidi has been an RSP Teacher in Murrieta for 22 plus years. She was at Warm Springs Middle School for 7 years before taking the leap to High School. She has a Multiple Subject, Education Specialist and Administrative Eligibility credentials. Heidi became a Site Representative to learn more about the job and the district and she gladly accepted a position on the negotiations team for approximately 14 years.  Advocating for Special Education has been a journey and something she is extremely passionate about.  Currently she holds the Secondary Special Education Director position and will continue to support Teachers.​

Cynthia Maddox-Sanchez

​Cynthia Maddox-Sanchez has been a Speech-Language Pathologist at Antelope Hills Elementary in Murrieta Valley Unified School District for over 15 years. She has served as the SLP Department Lead for 7 years and led the SLP Professional Learning Team for 3 years. Cynthia began her union involvement as the SLP representative for the Murrieta Educators Association. In 2019, she was elected as the first Director of Specialized Student Support Personnel (SSSP) and has proudly held the position ever since. Her work reflects a strong commitment to student support, professional leadership, and advocacy.
